Problem Statement:

Our community lacks specific accommodations and equal opportunities like education, employment, and health for the third gender who is as equivalent member of the community as we are.

Background:

The transgender community of Pakistan is facing serious issues of violence and discrimination. They do not have an access to even basic education and health facilities. They are left alone in the community even the parents do not own them. Usually, they are left with very few options for earning and survival in the communities. There are many activists both from within the transgender community and outside of it are working and raising voice for equal rights but we need to be more inclusive and adopt them as they are with the struggle of uplifting them.

Why do we need to address this issue?

We are living in a digital era with so many development opportunities and needs. Therefore, we need more and more people in our communities who can become part of this development, and together we can achieve our developmental goals. We need to build communities that can think and act creatively in this mode of digitization. Digital skills are the key for every one of us to play a role in community development and ultimately uplifting the economy of Pakistan.

How to address this issue?

I aim to address this issue through the social entrepreneurship concept. We can build a platform where we provide access to the learning and development of our third gender of community.

Here are some suggestions for this project:

1-Giving them necessary soft skills for the workplace.

2-Teaching them skills of freelancing and online earning opportunities.

3-Providing them with the skills of art and crafts.

4-Preparing them for the govt. jobs like entry test preparation etc.

In short, my mega project will be about transgenders and their job-based training.
